A snowflake is winter's butterfly

Well, it's no secret that I LOVE butterflies!!! I bought these 4 Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders and had yet to use them (1 down, 3 to go! LOL) and then I remembered that I had this stamp. How appropriate especially with the all the pretty snowflakes we had last night and tonight too! They're the kind that are soft and fluffy and glisten when they hit the ground, just beautiful. I embossed the card with the snowflakes Cuttlebug folder then sanded the top to expose the white core. I adhered the butterfly, a snowflake, a little bling and there you have it!!!

Stampendous Dove/Peace - 2 takes

On the first card, I stamped the Dove white on light blue cardstock. It was pretty faint but I liked the look of it. I then stamped the word Peace in red along with the heart. I used Martha Stewart snowflake punches (2 different ones), added a rhinestone for the eye and voila!

For the 2nd card, I stamped the dove in white again but this time on darker blue cardstock so it stood out more. Of course I smudged it (darn pigment ink!) but my normal instinct to throw it away and start over went away and I improvised. I drew over the outline with a white puff paint pen, let it dry and embossed it. I used the same snowflake punches but punched them in red to stand out and used a white pen to draw a little dot in the centers. A rhinestone eye and some stickles finished it up!

I really do like how they both came out. I couldn't decide which one I liked better... and why should I??? Hope you like them too!

Spirit of Christmas

Well, all I can say is FINALLY! I have been slacking in the card making area. It's so much easier to sit on the couch and let the baby play in the living room than take him down to my scrapbooking room. I know, I know, it's no excuse and I should go down while he's napping. Well, that's what I did today and to my surprise I finished this card that had been a work in progress. I cut the white circular/flowery/ornament things (I guess I'm not really sure what they are, huh? LOL) on my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge (and might I just add... love it!). I then mounted them on red and green paper and trimmed around the shape. The background paper is from CTMH (as is the ribbon) and the brads in the centers I believe were Karen Foster. I used the Fiskars Treading Water punch along the edge and a white pen for the dots along the outermost edge. I mimicked the dots on the inside left side of the card as well. In case it's hard to read, the outside reads "May the Spirit of Christmas" and the inside says "warm your heart all year long". This stamp came from the set Festive Thoughts by CTMH. I think this one is going to my Nana. I have yet to mail my Christmas cards. I better get moving!!! Happy Holidays :)

*Another* White Christmas

This card was simple yet it took me a while! I just couldn't get the snowflakes placed the way I wanted. There's that perfectionist thing again!!! I embossed white cardstock with the Swiss Dots folder. I used the negative of the word white that I cut out with the Storybook Cricut cartridge. The word Christmas is from a Technique Tuesday set and the snowflake is a Martha Stewart (insert "yuck!" here) punch. I added a little bling with darker blue rhinestones. I think it has a very formal, elegant look overall and I like it!

CTMH All Decked Out

WOW! There are sooo many options with this stamp set. Different scarves, hats, facial features, sticks for arms... or mittens, etc ;) This is what I came up with! I used the Snowdots Cuttlebug folder to emboss the background on the Baby Blue CTMH cardstock. I wish I had invented this product, just imagine how loaded I'd be!!! hehe

White Christmas

For this card, I used Maya Road chipboard snowflakes and painted them with a white sponge dauber (super easy!!!). The stamp is from the CTMH set, Christmas Melodies. the buttons are also from CTMH. I was loving this card but I will admit that I am a perfectionist and this card is not perfection in my eyes. I'm really not thrilled with the "I'm" part of the card but I had to move on and accept that they can't all be perfect. This is something that is hard for me and sometimes restrains me from creating but I'm working on it!

SU Sleigh Full of Toys

This was my first 6x6 card and it was fun!!! I love the big sleigh full of toys and that's exactly what Andrew will be getting for Christmas this year!!! I really love the reindeer too, they're so cute! I accented this card with rhinestones and some ribbon which I folded to resemble ribbon candy.

CTMH Evergreen/O Christmas Tree

I really liked how this card came out. I wanted to use a plain background so I went with Craft cardstock (SU). I stamped the tree and used a paint pen to do the little dots on it (thanks to Melanie for having that in her bag of tricks! LOL). I used metal embellishments for the lettering and stamped a little flourishy thing in the corner (excuse the smudge...)

CTMH Santa's Flight

Ok, so this stamp set is so cute especially for us Santa lovers!!! I hope he brings me something good this year :) hehe The little yellow house on the bottom is supposed to be ours. I added some stickles to the snowflakes on the bottom piece and also on Santa's sleigh. I made the front reindeer Rudolph by adding a red rhinestone to his nose. This is my first card using this set but I'm sure there will be more to come!

CTMH Shining Star

This card was super easy and it came out pretty. I just stamped the star in a yellow color, put in on my background paper, used markers and stickles to add more red and green to the image and stapled some ribbon for a little something extra.

SU Merry Merry

This was a quick and easy card to make once I decided not to use the background stamp that was part of the set. I tried and tried to use it but COULD NOT for the life of me get it to ink up and stamp straight. I was going mental so I gave up. I do think it worked out for the best since this background paper is so retro looking and went well with the stamp set.

Snowman non-stamped card

I bought this kit by My Mind's Eye. It has the most adorable Christmas papers! I didn't really do much but cut the paper to size and add the few die cut stickers but it came out cute anyway and this one's my husband's favorite out of the ones I've made so far. It was about the most I could do with a 7 month old who wasn't wanting mommy to play that day. My friend, Melanie, was over and I got a whole 2 cards done... and that's if this one even counts! LOL

Halloween - Skeletons

Among my many online purchases, I bought this set by Cosmo Cricket. I just loved the skeleton and knew they had to be embossed with white on black paper... DUH! I had this cobweb paper from a long time ago and it worked perfectly for what I wanted.

Halloween - Pretty Lil' Kitty

This cat came from the Close to My Heart set, Scarecrow Party. I got this wicked cute little bucket full of Halloween colored Prima flowers... adorable! This card wicked reminds me of my mom! For those of you who know my mom, I'm sure you understand :) We lovingly call her "Glitter Grandma". Actually, Halloween is her favorite holiday so I should through this in the mail to her today!!!

SU Season of Friendship

I had went to my friend's Stampin' Up! party a couple of weeks ago and I bought this stamp set, Season of Friendship, out of the mini catalog. I wish I had bought the paper to match but didn't. Next order ;) It was a pain in the you-know-what to cut the flowers out but I didn't have a small/big enough circle punch to use. So I wish I could say that it was my idea to use the scalloped nestie for the background of the tree but it wasn't. I would credit the person who's idea it was but I've been looking around so many blogs lately that I can't remember. Sorry, clever one!

SU Buds & Blossoms

I got together with my friend, Melanie over the weekend and I got a whole TWO cards made. It's getting more and more difficult having a 6 month old baby crawling around. I told "daddy" that next time, he gets to watch him so I can go play! This first card was used with one of my new Stampin' Up! stamp sets called Buds & Blossoms and the sentiment I used was from the Best Blossoms set. I felt like it was missing something somewhere in the middle but couldn't quite figure out what (didn't like ribbon) so I left it as is.

Whoomp! Here he is... LOL

This is my owl that I found at TJ Maxx. They seem to be all the rage right now and luckily, I like them. Funny because I never liked birds before. I think it's pigeons that turned me off to birds in general but I'm getting over it. I even put a bird feeder in my yard. I think that was mainly because I liked the feeder since it had butterflies on it :) Those are my fave!!!

Whooo Loves You

I used the Close to My Heart stamp set, Whooo Loves You and embossed the background with the Forest Branches Cuttlebug folder. All of the ink colors are CTMH but the bookplate is from WeR Memory Keepers. Owls seem to be all the rage right now and I'm diggin' them! I'll post another photo of the big guy I found at TJ Maxx.

Pretty Floral

I always have a hard time with patterned paper but I keep buying loads of it because it's so pretty or cute. I never seem to like what I stamp with the pattern so I end up using plain colored cardstock. I forced myself to use this paper and I was pleased with how it came out using the paper flowers, brads and rubons... pretty and simple!!! Next time I'll try to stamp something!

Hey Sweetie

I made this card for my mom's friend over the summer. I had toted a bunch of my scrapbooking stuff down "south" when my husband had his training and I thought it would give me something to do. My mom had a few friends who had birthdays in August so I volunteered to make them cards. Dummy me only took a picture of one! I used Cupcakabella for this one. She was my first :) I'm sure there will be many more...

Here's the Scoop

For this card, I used the stamp set Here's the Scoop by My Favorite Things. This is my first stamp set from this company (and my first card) and I like it a lot. What woman doesn't love ice cream??? I know I do!!! I used to love to color as a kid and I guess I still do :) Now if I only had some gossip to dish to someone...

Anniversary gifts! I guess I'm spoiled :)

My husband bought me a garnet and diamond ring and also a bouquet of beautiful flowers. That was a surprise since I haven't gotten many flowers since we've been married. He must've heard me complaining about that at some point and took note of it :) One lonely little flower fell out and was on the driveway when we were heading out. Of course I took a picture of it and it came out so CUTE!

On a personal note...

My husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary last week. My mom came up and watched the kids so we could go to dinner. Thanks, Mom! I enjoyed a Pomegranite Martini with dinner which was my first drink in over a year since I've been nursing and didn't drink while I was prego! hehe

Am I here yet??? LOL

Ok, so I joined Blogspot back in July and haven't (until now) really tried to post anything. It's difficult having a baby (and an online shopping addiction) finding the time to get on here. I am not the most computer savvy person when it comes to uploading, downloading, sideloading (j/k) and all that other fun stuff but I'm sure gonna try!!!
